SLPcentral is an iPhone and web app for school-based speech-language pathologists that logs session data and uses an AI assistant, Ollie, to draft SOAP notes and progress reports from that data.
We believe your time should be spent with your clients, not on paperwork. Unrealistic caseloads and paperwork that follows you home are among the leading causes of burnout in this profession. With the technology available to us today, that shouldn’t be the reality. Data collection should take seconds, not minutes. Notes should be able to draft themselves from the work you’ve already done, not force you to start with a blank page at 6 pm.
SLPcentral was built to close that gap. The therapy should be the focus again.
Why I built SLPcentral
My name is Ryan Lillard, and I am a current Speech-Language Pathology graduate student at the University of West Georgia, on track to become a licensed school SLP.
Probably like many of you, I have always known that helping others was my calling. I stuttered when I was young, and experiencing therapy myself is what first showed me what this field can truly do for someone. Pursuing my master’s in Speech-Language Pathology has been the best decision of my life.
I’ve also always held a fascination with technology and software development since I was young. That combination put me in a truly unique, yet useful position. When I went looking for tools that could actually streamline paperwork, use AI effectively, and manage a full caseload, I found almost nothing. Instead of waiting for someone else to build it for SLPs, I built it myself.
I’m surrounded by speech therapists every single day — my classmates, the SLPs I shadow, and soon enough, my own fiancée, who’s an SLP too. I’ve seen firsthand what holds this profession back, and it’s not a lack of good products. It’s a lack of ones that are actually streamlined and affordable, built by someone who understands the work instead of guessing at it.
